Captain Solomon Wood and First Mate/Chef Cian Browne join KaYachtic after a successful season together aboard Island Standard Time, a BVI based Bali 4.8. Their wealth of knowledge of the cruising grounds, the yacht, hospitality experience makes them the perfect crew for your charter vacation.


— CAPTAIN SOLOMON - 2026/2027 SEASON — 

Solomon first learned to sail in the rugged waters of Scotland, where the mix of wild seas and sweeping coastlines sparked a passion for sailing that has only grown stronger over the years. What began as a pastime soon developed into a lifelong passion for the sea.


With years of experience captaining yachts and guiding guests through some of the most beautiful sailing waters in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean, Solomon takes great pride in creating unforgettable experiences to ensure every guest has the best week of their lives onboard.


Holding an RYA Yachtmaster Offshore qualification with both STCW and Commercial Endorsement, Solomon brings both professionalism and passion to every charter. Beyond the technical skills, what sets Solomon apart is a deep love for introducing people to sailing and sharing the joy of life at sea.
Whether it’s navigating turquoise bays, teaching guests how to sail, or simply creating moments of calm on deck, Solomon embodies both adventure and hospitality.

— FIRST MATE CIAN - 2026/2027 SEASON — 
Cian trained at Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland, graduating with first-class honours. The farm-to-fork ethos there gave him a deep respect for ingredients,
seasonality, and the power of simple food cooked with care. During his time, he also worked service at Ballymaloe House, plating five-course dinners for over 80 covers a night—an experience that sharpened both his technical skills and his ability to
thrive under pressure. He went on to do stages at Margaret’s and Quay in Sydney, both 2- and 3-hatted restaurants, where he gained invaluable insight into fine dining kitchens at the highest level.


Since then, Cian has cooked across a wide range of kitchens and settings. He has worked as a private chef, and spent a winter season in the French Alps, preparing multi-course meals for new groups of guests each week. That role taught him how
to adapt quickly, balance precision with warmth, and bring a restaurant-level standard to a homely setting.


Cian returns to the BVI for another Caribbean season working alongside Solomon. Life at sea demands flexibility, creativity, and the ability to design menus that suit diverse tastes and dietary needs—all in the tightest of kitchens. It is as much about creating an experience as it is about the food, which is exactly what he loves about this career.

    Xander, your sailing itinerary brought us to so many exquisite island locations. We loved anchoring off Little Jost Van Dyke tucked into a little bay where we faced a tiny island with two cute palms standing side by side. Our starry night with sparkling boat lights while buoyed in North Sound, Virgin Gorda was magical! We loved sailing and returning to Anegada bringing back memories from 35 years ago. Among other special spots and sails you topped it off with a snorkeling destination at the Indians where we found ourselves surrounded by tropical fish of all hues and sizes. 

    Tay, your culinary talent and offerings were amazing! The presentation is a work of art! We could taste the love in each bite and meal. You outdid yourself with every breakfast, lunch, and dinner! Thank you for all the dietary accommodations. The jerk chicken and jollof rice followed by a gluten free chocolate birthday cake for Gary and me topped off the delectable culinary experience!   • We challenged you to free us from quarantine and pandemic induced claustrophobic blues while also keeping us safe. You were wildly successful! Xander sailed us to beautiful hidden harbors and secluded beaches without requiring us to look at our watches or a calendar for that matter. Xander accommodated our desire to feel productive by accepting less than effective gestures of help in anchoring and mooring making us feel like contributors despite increasing his workload. Taylor's meals were inspired, delicious, and beautiful gourmet courses. When the local restaurants shut down mid week, new onboard menus were planned and delivered without missing a beat. Not only were you competent at adjusting to unplanned curveballs, you did so in a way that made it seem like the plan all along. By the end of the trip we were calling you "mom and dad" despite us being twice your age. You were the coolest "parents on the boat" since you fed us a never-ending stream of painkillers. We highly recommend you as perfect hosts for any group looking to dip their toes in the water and adolescence, secure that you'll keep them from drowning in either.

  • When I think of peaches I think of Taylor. Her energy and smile alone made the week that much more fun. Her food was Michelin 3 stars. She was always on point with everything, from getting our tables set up to helping us with jet skis. Taylor is an Aussie but moving to the US and I can't wait to reunite with her in October.

  • I LOVE TAYLOR. That’s my girl!!!! Food was fire, so so good always. Not only were the meals always different, but always fresh, always creative and so well thought out. We had so many different options, everyone always had enough. We kept saying she couldn’t top one meal, and then she’d top it with the next one. If we ate a lot at breakfast, she was flexible about lunch time. She was very attentive and was quick on her feet to making use of what was available. She was super friendly, talkative, energetic, bubbly, funny, and we loved hanging with her. Especially me I got to talk to her a lot and she was awesome. Up early, working hard, on task, cleaning up, not leaving any messes, washing dishes right after meals, and always so helpful to us on setting up/coordinating dinners and hanging with us. Really feel like I made a genuine friend with her too.

  • We had a great time as a family cruising the BVIs on Kayachtic. The yacht was beautiful, clean, and well-maintained. There were multiple areas to sit and we were always able to find shade when we wanted it. The snorkeling equipment was in good condition and our Captain found some great snorkel areas.

    The crew was very accommodating and flexible if we wanted to adjust our daily plans. The food was outstanding! Lots of variety, beautiful presentation.     Captain Sol & Chef Cian far exceeded all expectations! Their willingness to take us to the most special waters off the beaten path truly made for everlasting memories. They are so kind and professional.

     

    Cian's meals can be considered works of art. It is said 'first we feast with our eyes', and we did, every day, all day!! The BVI waters are so inviting, every stop was another opportunity to swim, play, relax. True luxury. Till we meet again (and we will), thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

    • Guest Maximum: 9 pax. 4 double cabins and 1 small single forepeak cabin. Forepeak Cabin is ideal for children or young teens. Port Fwd cabin only accessible via another guest cabin. Suitable only for family sharing.
